HIPPA

This document is to explain what HIPPA is to our customers and how it pertains to the standards we must keep. HIPPA stands for Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act. HIPPA was enacted by the 104th United State Congress and signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996. This act requires all parties dealing with protected health information to handle the information with confidentiality to achieve the highest form of protection. HIPPA allows the ability to transfer health insurance coverage for hundreds to millions of workers when they change careers or jobs. It can also supply coverage in the event they lose said job.  Having the highest form of protection when dealing with medical records and protected health information reduces health care fraud and abuse. HIPPA also requires industry wide standards for all health care information; the maximum civil penalty for violating HIPPA is $50,000 per violation.

HIPPA Privacy regulations demand that health care providers, companies, and workers all follow and maintain the highest form of confidentiality when dealing with protected health information (PHI). Therefore, only the minimum healthcare information needed to operate and facilitate the business needs will be used or shared. At Vision Choice we adhere strictly to all the rules and regulations determined by the HIPPA laws. We will handle your information with the utmost care as possible. Thank you for entrusting us with your private information, and we do not take this trust lightly. We look forward to our many years of service with you and your family.
